September 2020 Strada Easel Challenge Days 25-30

“Texture” Day 25

I made it! The final six paintings of the challenge are finished. For day 25, I came across these shells and thought they were perfect for the prompt. My other idea was to paint another feather. It was nice to do something I’ve never done before though.

“Smooth” Day 26

I seriously lacked energy on day 26. I did the simplest, quickest painting I could think of and called it good.

“Hight Key” Day 27

After already doing one or two high key paintings already this challenge, it took me a while to think of another subject for a high key painting. If you weren’t aware what high key means, don’t feel bad, I had to look it up. It just means only using mid to light values. I have tended to struggle with this in the past because I like to go with high contrast values as much as possible, but I like the effect.

“Focal Point” Day 28

Day 28 was a real struggle for me. I painted two painting on day 28 and wiped both of them off. Neither one was a particularly bad painting, but I was frustrated and not getting them to go in the direction I wanted. So I posted my second failed painting on instagram for the challenge and painted the painting above on day 29. And since I want an eve 30 paintings when I complete the challenge I had to paint a second painting for day 29.

“Yellow”Day 29

And here we have it: Day 29. The second painting painted on this day. I knew from the start I wanted to use this butterfly for this prompt, but I think I enjoyed painting it more the first time around. Enjoyment aside, I think this might be the better painting of the two.

“Portrait” Day 30

And that’s it. Another challenge is finished. I’m proud of myself for finishing, but I’m not sure what I accomplished. What I do know for sure is that I need a nap.
