I always just thought of this trail as the Poison Spider Dinosaur Track Trail because it starts at the Dinosaur Tracks in the Poison Spider Jeep Trail parking lot. It’s actually called the Longbow Trail, named for Longbow Arch at the end. The dinosaur tracks are really nice ones, but I didn’t get any pictures of them. Tracks tend to just look like lumpy rocks in photos anyway so no big loss there.
Anyway, this is a decently long, relatively flat trail through a little hidden valley, with only a couple of steep-ish parts. I wouldn’t do it in the summer though since there isn’t much for shade unless you crawl under a scrubby tree. We got really hot in the middle of winter, but that’s a typical Moab winter. Hike in layers with a backpack to carry all of your layers.
My husband and I didn’t know there was a trail or arch here when we stopped to look at the dinosaur tracks. We planned on hiking the Corona Arch trail, but saw the trail and decided to see where it went. The arch at the end is nice enough, but not quite as impressive as the Corona Arch. My favorite part of this trail is the nice view of the Behind the Rocks area and the La Sal mountains.
