Painting for an Art Show

9×12 oil on panel “Klondike Part 2”

This painting may seem familiar to those of you following along with my Utrecht Color Theory Challenge from March 2019. I wanted to repaint this larger for the Canyon River Runners Art Show next month along with another painting that I haven’t done yet. I plan on painting the next one this next week and I’ll be crossing my fingers it’s dry on time.

I thought about just using one of the paintings I already did last year, but I wanted to submit a larger painting this year. Plus, I wanted to use the show as motivation to paint. My painting motivation has been lacking lately, which is normal and fine. Everyone goes through ups and downs. However, I would still like to do at least one painting a week to keep myself practiced and to have something to post here each week.

It’s beautiful! And look how amazing the flowers are after a month of painting them!

Haha! I didn’t even realize there were flowers in this until you pointed it out. I was so focused on the sky and cactus that I didn’t even think about them.
