This challenge is flying by. Only 7 more paintings left and I can take a little break. I’m actually looking forward to going back to my gouache animal paintings.

I’ve been looking around at what other people are posting on Instagram and I can’t help but notice how many different ways people interpret the challenge. I’m impressed with how many people follow the prompt list. I can’t even imagine trying to think up a new idea based on the prompt each day.

In many ways my approach of just painting subjects within a narrow theme is substantially easier (at least for me). For instance, I know roughly what I’m painting each day. And each day I get better and better at painting my subject.

I’ve been using a very old frayed brush for most of this challenge because I didn’t want to damage a nice brush. But I was in a Blick art store and couldn’t help myself. I bought a nice new brush and it is amazing how much better it works. I also got a super tiny pad of Yupo paper that I’m excited to try out at some point.

There are tons of youTube videos out there of people buying expensive and excessive supplies for Inktober. It’s unnecessary. A person could do Inktober with a ball point pen at its most basic or spend a whopping $20 bucks on ink and a dip pen set. I already had dip pens from way back in my college days and I used the same ink from last year along with a new bottle of sepia ink I really wanted to try.

Next week is the final week of Inktober 2019! I’m posting daily over on Instagram so be sure to check me out @amber.honour. See you all next week. 🙂
