This Inktober is really going great so far. The paintings are really flying by each day and they’re something I really look forward to. This is the first year I’ve used masking fluid to preserve my whites. I knew about it, but I didn’t know just how amazing it is. I’ve been using the crap out of it to the point where I’m probably overusing it. But hey, I’m learning.

I’m also excited to be showing off my skull collection. My dad found a bunch of skulls at a yard sale and bought them with me in mind. Seriously, the best present ever! That is where I got the beaver and turtle skull along with a couple of turtle shells and a shark jaw.

My husband also keeps an eye out for skulls for me. We were hiking around an abandoned collection of buildings and he came across a cat skull. Same thing for the two broken skulls that I’m not totally sure about. I think one is a weasel and the other is a rabbit or prairie dog. I could be wrong about those though.

While I won’t be able to use them this Inktober, I might have a bull skull coming my way. I have to clean it though and I’m pretty nervous about cleaning something so huge. So far, I’ve only cleaned a duck and a turkey which was easy to just boil in a pot on the stove.

There also may be a coyote or two coming my way from friends of my husband who plan on hunting them anyway. I think those will be the hardest to clean due to their resemblance to dogs. I have plans on trying to get another turkey, a chicken or two, and a rabbit. It really depends on what is being butchered on my in-law’s farm.
